We can organize morning hikes in the company of our naturalist guide. Visiting the reserve with an accredited guide transforms a walk through pretty forest into an amazing look at the life of the cloud forest and a great learning experience.

Considered as the most well known cloud forest in the world for its wide variety of biodiversity, important conservation contributions and scientific researches. Cloud Forest



Resplendant Quezal     Natural History guided tour in Curi-Cancha Reserve

This one is located in the Arenal-Tempisque conservation area in the heart of Monteverde. It protects 83 hectares (205 acres) of 50% virgin forest, 45% secondary growth, and 5% open pasture. The altitude ranges from 1450 meters to 1615 meters with 40% Lower montane wet forest and 60% Premontane wet forest. Seven kilometers of natural trails allow visitors to explore the flora and fauna of the tropical cloud forest.
Curi-Cancha is a birdwatcher’s paradise. The Resplendent Quetzal, Three-Wattled Bellbird, Blue-Crowned Motmot, Orange-bellied Trogon, and many others are frequently seen. Indeed, over 200 species of birds have been observed making their home in Curi-Cancha. Frequently sighted mammals include armadillo, coati, agouti, kinkajou, ocelot, two-toed sloth, and three species of monkey: mantled howler, white-faced capuchin, and spider monkey.
Visitors are welcome to browse the trails by themselves or take a guide to enhance the experience. Entrance fee is $15 per person adults and $12 per person for students, guided tour has an additional charge of $20 per person. Tours at 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.


SELVATURA - Canopy Tours and Suspended Bridges

Transportation with pick up and drop off at the hotel included. Pick up times at the hotel: 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m., 12.30 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Stroll through the cloud forest canopy on eight suspended bridges (self-guided). Breath-taking views into the rain forest. Open daily 7.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Entrance fee is US$ 35 for adults, US$ 30 for students and US$ 25 for children. With a guide: $20 extra per person.
Located about 4 miles from the town of Santa Elena on the road to the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Preserve.

With 20 platforms it is the largest canopy tour in the region. The longest trails measure 240 m and 320 m.

Hanging Bridges:
Stroll through the cloud forest canopy on eight suspended bridges (guided tour with a bilingual guide included - duration approx. 2 hours). Great views. At the end of the tour we will offer the opportunity to climb through the inside of a ficus tree. Entrance fee is US$ 35 for adults and US$ 25 for children. 

10 cables (some extend for 5000 feet and height of 260 feet), 1 Rope Bridge, Buggy Ride, Mega Tarzan Swing (148 feet) and rappel (15 meters). Rate is US$ 50 adults, and children US$ 40. Tours at 8.00 a.m., 9.30 a.m., 11.00 a.m., 1.00 p.m. and 3.00 p.m.
Night Tours

Start at 5:30 pm with the last daylight, so your eyes can adjust gradually to the dark. An experienced guide will lead you through the nightly forest with its strange sounds. You can observe sloths, opossums, sleeping birds, porcupines, coatis, armadillos, snakes and tarantulas and other nocturnal animals. Transportation provided.

Don Juan Coffee Tour

Don Juan Coffee Tour:  We offer 3 tours in 1! The coffee tour, wonderful history of coffee in the world, its history in our country and importance in Costa Rica's development, see all the processes carried by coffee, from the seed to the delicious final product, the cup of coffee. Chocolate tour, you will have an experience between aromas and history, where you will participate in the chocolate process and be able to enjoy, share and taste the fruit of the cocoa, until arriving to its magnificent transformation, becoming a delicious drink; equally on this tour we will show you the whole process of transition from seed to pure and ground cocoa. Sugar cane, where you'll learn about its history, plantations, different types of harvest, processing, obtainment of various products and you'll be able to live the experience of handcrafting sugar cane juice.
Price $35 per person or children 6 – 15,  $15. Free transportation: 7:45 a.m., 9:45 a.m., 12:45 p.m. and 2:45 pm.


El Trapiche Tour | The sugar cane mill

A Costa Rican family run business where you can enjoy a 2 hour guided tour. The tour begins with a walk through a farm where you can learn about the plantations that grow sugar cane, coffee and other crops such as bananas, plantains, root vegetables, oranges and more.
Tour includes an ox cart ride to the Sugar Mill "Trapiche" where the sugar cane is processed. Throughout the tour you will have the opportunity to taste the various products that are made from sugar cane as well as enjoy a delicious cup of coffee.
Tours at 10.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m., transport included.

Horseback Riding

Explore the area on well trained horses for all levels. A local guide will lead you through farmland pastures, forests and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the ocean.
Duration 2 hours $ 35 up to $45 p.p.

In our immediate neighborhood you will find an Orchid Garden displaying over 450 species, among them the world's smallest orchid.

There are many exhibitions and small zoos in the area, displaying snakes, frogs, insects, bats and butterflies. On the road towards the Monteverde Reserve you will find several art galleries, a yoga school and beauty salon.
