This is a must do tour while in Monteverde. We can organize morning hikes in the company of Adrian Mendez, our naturalist guide. Canopy Tours and Suspended Bridges


Bridges and Canopy (Transportation with pick up and drop off at the hotel included, pick up times at the hotel: 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m., 12.30 p.m. and 2 p.m.)

Stroll through the cloud forest canopy on eight suspended bridges (self-guided). Breath-taking views into the rain forest. Open daily 7.30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Entrance fee is US$ 30 for adults, US$ 25 for students and US$ 20 for children. With a guide: $20 extra per person.
Located about 4 miles from the town of Santa Elena on the road to the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Preserve.

With 20 platforms it is the largest canopy tour in the region. The longest trails measure 240 m and 320 m.
Rate is US$ 45 adults, US$ 40 for students and children US$ 30. Tours at 8.30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2.30 p.m.

The Original Canopy Tour

The tour starts with a 15 minutes walk to the first platform. Then you traverse on a cable between 9 platforms suspended in trees, with heights from 40 ft. to 110 ft, wearing professional equipment. In the middle of the tour you rappel down and then climb up a ladder to the next platform. At the end you have to rappel down again.
Cost is US$ 45, students US$ 35, children US$ 25.
Tours at 7.30 a.m., 10.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m.

Hanging Bridges:
Stroll through the cloud forest canopy on eight suspended bridges (guided tour with a bilingual guide included � duration approx. 2 hours). Great views. At the end of the tour we will offer the opportunity to climb through the inside of a ficus tree. Entrance fee is US$ 30 for adults and US$ 25 for children.

16 cables (some extend for 1960 feet and height of 260 feet), Tarzan Swing and rappel (15 meters). Rate is US$ 40 adults, and children US$ 20. Tours at 8.00 a.m., 9.30 a.m., 11.00 a.m., 1.00 p.m. and 3.00 p.m.

Night Tours

Start at 5:30 pm with the last daylight, so your eyes can adjust gradually to the dark. An experienced guide will lead you through the nightly forest with its strange sounds. You can observe sloths, opossums, sleeping birds, porcupines, coatis, armadillos, snakes and tarantulas and other nocturnal animals. Transportation provided.

Learn about Monteverde�s Coffee with this unique coffee tour. During the tour you�ll see the whole process, from the farm to your cup. Coffee tours $30 per person.

El Trapiche Tour | The sugar cane mill

A Costa Rican family run business where you can enjoy a 2 hour guided tour. The tour begins with a walk through a farm where you can learn about the plantations that grow sugar cane, coffee and other crops such as bananas, plantains, root vegetables, oranges and more�
Tour includes an ox cart ride to the Sugar Mill "Trapiche" where the sugar cane is processed. Throughout the tour you will have the opportunity to taste the various products that are made from sugar cane as well as enjoy a delicious cup of coffee.
Tours at 10.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m., transport included.

Horseback Riding

Explore the area on well trained horses for all levels. A local guide will lead you through farmland pastures, forests and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the ocean.

In our immediate neighborhood you will find an Orchid Garden displaying over 450 species, among them the world's smallest orchid.

There are many exhibitions and small zoos in the area, displaying snakes, frogs, insects, bats and butterflies. On the road towards the Monteverde Reserve you will find several art galleries, a yoga school and beauty salon.
